Projects
I love doing projects at home and often pickup new equipment to test and set things up with. I have a 26U half rack in my living room filled with Unifi, Supermicro, Pi's and HP servers.(I had to lock it up because the kiddos love to change the color on the LED strip!!).
Uptime Kuma - Wyze Integration Using Uptime Kuma open source running on a docker container and integrated with my home security cameras, it will send me a message on my Discord channel if the integration goes down.
Unifi VLAN's and PiHole DNS Three indepent VLANS setup for IOT, Servers and Home devices. I have them pointed to Pihole DNS as the main and Unifi DNS as secondary incase PiHole service goes down for some reason(Uptime Kuma would alert me to this).
Vm's 2 Containers I moved over from using VM's for services to containers. I moved over my Unifi,Pihole,Uptime Kuma and a few other services to docker containers. I am runnning these on a HP server running Ubuntu 20.04, planning to use kubernetes in the future, still learning about this process.
PBX Phone Server Using an old Cisco 8851 desk phone I purchased from Craigslist, an old Pi that I had laying around, and some open source i spun up a phone server for my daughter to use to play office. The phone had a reachable number and we could call out to my cell phone as well.
